Demolition Machinery and booms.

In line with our policy of continual research and development - a factor that helps differentiate PMI from numerous other manufacturers of demolition machinery - we have designed a new solution that has the capacity to overcome the difficulties most commonly associated with large-scale demolition operations. We refer to the all-new PMI 980 Superlong Demolition.

The PMI 980 Superlong Demolition stands apart from all superficially comparable models on the market for two reasons: first, it is exceptionally versatile and can be used for a whole number of different purposes; second, when fully extended, it has unrivalled reach.

Indeed, the PMI 980 can operate efficiently up to a height of 50 meters when using a 1300kg cutter crusher. The demolition equipment in this PMI 980 is fully modular, making it possible to use it for an array of different operations at varying heights. This versatility allows you to make the most of your fleet of machinery, since you can use the PMI 980 to carry out most - if not, indeed, all - of your demolition and excavation operations, without recourse to other machinery.

The PMI 980 Superlong Demolition comes equipped with the following:

- 1 x base boom (4.87m)
-
1 x telescopic boom (10-16m range)
-
1 x 3-piece articulated boom (standard length 22.6m, also available in an 18.7m version)
-
1 x 4m extra forearm

Naturally, the demolition tools that may be attached to the base unit vary according to the desired height of operation - a 1300kg tool may be when at maximum reach, whereas tools of up to 5000kg can be used at lesser extensions.

Therefore, the possible configurations are as follows:

Base boom, smaller articulated boom, 5000kg cutter crusher: operational height 26m

Base boom, larger articulated boom, 4000kg cutter crusher: operational height 30m

Base boom, closed telescopic boom, larger articulated boom, 2700kg cutter crusher: operational height 40m

Base boom, unthreaded telescopic boom, larger articulated boom, 2000kg cutter crusher: operational height 46m

Base boom, unthreaded telescopic boom, larger articulated boom, extra forearm, 1300kg cutter crusher: operational height 50m

If intended for stationary demolition operations, the weight of the machine can reach 140000kg, whereas mobile machines can weigh only up to 75000kg.

In high-level demolition operations, it is crucial to have full control over the movement of the boom and the cutter crusher. For this reason - and also to avoid potentially dangerous oscillations when the boom is at its furthest extension - the base unit comes equipped with a dual control system. One system is used during excavation and facilitates speed of movement, while the other system is used during demolition and focuses on precision of movement.

The PMI 980 (excavator version) features an 8.5m monoblock boom onto which may be fitted a 3m forearm and a clamshell bucket with a maximum capacity of around 6m 3 . The geometrical characteristics of this configuration allow for a maximum excavation distance of 13.5m, a maximum excavation depth of 8.4m, a maximum dumping height of 13.4m and a maximum loading height of 9.15m . The maximum breaking force is equal to 40500kg, while the maximum penetration reaches 34000kg. The total weight is 105000kg.
